Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment which allows personnel to carry out tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are utilized to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common equipment found in warehouse and factory settings too.
Usually, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating employees. There are many various types of lifts and each and every one is suited to various types of jobs and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom which has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Usually, bucket trucks are utilized by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers normally use these equipment to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they could effectively service. This is especially important for power companies. For instance, a lot of these businesses utilize cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be checked on a regular basis and insulated properly since they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm that could bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and could turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Usually, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects which do not require easy access directly underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, as well as difficult to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
