Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
